Most audio engineers find that the sound of an LC EQ is smoother than other types, mostly due to the minimal phase shift throughout the audio bandwidth. The original Pultec MEQ-5 midrange equalizer was introduced to compliment the EQ-1A3 hi-low EQ. The Vintage Windings MEQ-5 Midrange Coil Set are three Molybdenum Permalloy Powder toroid core inductor coils suitable for use in the pass-
ive equalizer section of the Pultec MEQ-5 tube and solid state equalizers.
The core material formulation was chosen to compliment this appli-
cation specifically. MPP (Molybdenum Permalloy Powder) cores were developed by Western Electric and Bell Labs as telephone loading coils
and is still the absolute best core material for audio filter applications.
